After some brief touchpoints with programming during my study in Technical Business Administration and developing a piece of software for my previous employer, I decided that I wanted to become a developer.
I started looking for a new employer where they offer plenty of room for personal growth. Over the past year, I've gained development experience and I'm happy to say that I found a great workplace in Incentro. "Why?", you're asking. Read more in this blog.
My search as a junior developer
The job market is tight. Platforms like Indeed are full of vacancies for developers; there are plenty of options to start in a traineeship or junior position. I felt that many potential employers are mainly concerned with the transaction. For example, in most cases, I had to commit for at least 2-4 years. This gave me an unjust feeling and also brings little confidence in potential new employees. If you’re having a good time somewhere, why would you want to leave?
Training to become an RPA master
Incentro caught my interest because they use a different approach. The training program, for example, is not pre-made. What you learn and how you like to learn is up to you.
Of course, a foundation has to be laid in terms of RPA and automation, but the rest is up to you. Do you want to do die-hard development? Or do you also want to do some business analysis? Or maybe sales? Do you have good ideas to expand the tech stack? Do you want to develop something to improve the management of automation? Everything’s possible. Of course, there are guidelines and best practices, but there is also room for interpretation.
Autonomy and learning
A lot of own responsibility can be overwhelming at first. You're in charge of your personal development and, therefore, also partly of our automation team. This autonomy took some getting used to. It's not always easy, but mistakes are all part of the deal!
Will you become my new colleague?
