Wondering what it's like to work as a low-code consultant? In this blog, Marius shares his first days at Incentro.

In the first few months, as a junior low-code consultant at Incentro, you learn a lot! What do the first months look like? Here's a behind-the-scenes.

I Just finished my studies and immediately started working at Incentro. The first thing I noticed was that the team is very young, which made me feel at home right away. In the first week, I was immediately included in the onboarding process.

This onboarding consists of different parts. As a new Incentronaut, I learned all about the history and strategy of the organization.

We've been around for over 25 years and we don't have any rules - although we do have guiding principles. I also received information about security and my pension. The latter, the explanation of my pension, was surprisingly comprehensive. I also received a cool Incentro bag with a nice laptop and other useful goodies (such as a drinking bottle and a beach towel).

As a new Incentronaut, you are assigned a field manager (FM). Your FM is a colleague who will help you with your professional development. Within Incentro we have a 'growth mindset', which means that together with your FM you draw up a development plan with learning goals in which you want to develop yourself. In addition, the FM supports you with onboarding, the Young Professional Academy and general activities.

Even before my first day of work, I started working at the Incentro Young Professional Academy (YPA). The YPA is a three-year development program, where the focus is on improving your soft skills. Think about advising, your influencing style, giving feedback, asking good open questions, and much more.

You work in a group of about four (not always direct) colleagues on your own development. With this multidisciplinary group, you follow various training courses which are given by psychologists and actors from Akerendam.

Akerendam works together with Incentro and Incentronaut to create a development report. You use this development plan as the basis for your learning goals, which you set together with your FM. In my development plan, it says, among other things, that I want to bring more structure into meetings, so that you can use your time much more efficiently.

At the same time, you get to work with Thinkwise. This is one of the low-code platforms used by Incentro. With Thinkwise it is possible to develop business software ten times faster than with traditional software development.

Thinkwise was completely new to me, but this was no problem. I could get started straight away with a Thinkwise training in which I learned all the ins and outs of the Software Factory (this is where the applications are built).

After this training, I started to build an internal application in a sandbox environment. I built a stock and order system and played with API calls and different SQL queries. My more experienced colleagues were always there to answer my questions and help me further.

In the end, there's a lot involved. The onboarding, the YPA, your personal development plan, and gaining new knowledge and skills around Thinkwise.

Personally, I was positively surprised about how seriously Incentro takes personal and professional development. This is not a given at every company. The way in which you can develop both your hard and soft skills within Incentro is top-notch. In my opinion, this is also necessary to become a good consultant.

I hope you got a good picture of what the adventure of a new Incentronaut looks like. If you have any questions or want to know more, feel free to contact us!
